Today, this childhood home has become the Christian Dior Museum and can be visited to discover the couturier’s intimate world, through family memories, exhibitions, gardens and views over the English Channel. It all begins here. In 1946, Christian Dior established his couture house at 30 Avenue Montaigne, in a 19th century private mansion. A few months later, on February 12, 1947, he presented his first haute couture collection there, named Corolle and En 8. The silhouette was new, ample, feminine and spectacular. Carmel Snow, editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar, is said to have exclaimed the now famous words: “My dear Christian, your dresses have such a New Look!”

Today, 30 Montaigne is much more than a boutique. It is a true house to visit, admire and almost live in.
